Safety Advisor


Ventia is seeking a SHEQ (Safety) Advisor to support our partnership with TasWater, based in Hobart. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) compliance across our operations. Ventia’s facilities management solutions enable clients to focus on their core business while we deliver essential services, including building and open space maintenance, asset management, and project delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a safe and sustainable work environment within a dynamic team.

Key responsibilities of the SHEQ Advisor:

  • Implement and manage SHEQ Management Plans, ensuring compliance with legislation and safety standards.
  • Lead safety incident investigations and provide recommendations.
  • Support risk management, including assessments, registers, and compliance with Critical Risk Protocols.
  • Foster a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to SHEQ policies.
  • Oversee employee rehabilitation, Return to Work planning, and general risk management.
  • Deliver SHEQ training, onboarding, and subcontractor compliance oversight.
  • Monitor SHEQ performance, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operations to address non-conformance and implement corrective actions.
  • Support employee health, wellbeing, and engagement initiatives.

Skills and experience required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Environment, or Quality.
  • Formal training in incident investigation.
  • Proven experience as a safety professional in industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ legislation, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to develop strategies for compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in Occupational Hygiene and safety/environment/quality roles.
