Painter - Defence

A great opportunity for a Painter to join our fully geared Defence Maintenance Contract team based at Bandiana VIC.  

Perform all trade related tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of Defence vehicles, plant and equipment.  This includes abrasive blast clean, spray application of protective coatings, paint inspection, preparation of Job Analysis worksheets, any other duties deemed necessary.

About the role   

  • Conducting maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification, for which they are competent and qualified within time frames specified in Work Orders to the required Work Standards and/or the standard detailed in materiel specific instructions
  • Prepare surfaces to be painted by hand or machine
  • Mix and match paint by eye or by using computer technology to ensure correct colour match
  • Apply primer and finishing coats using spray guns and rub down surfaces between coats
  • Touch up paintwork and apply polish to vehicles
  • Remove masking papers before waxing and polishing finished paintwork
  • Paint signs or artwork on vehicles
  • Treat vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals

   
About you   

  • Relevant Trade qualifications required or desirable
  • Basic knowledge of use and removal of Hazardous Material
  • Ability to learn and use proprietary software necessary to support the position
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Basic understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
  • You must be an Australian Citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance
