Finance Manager


Ventia is seeking an experienced Finance Manger to join their Riggs and Well Services Business. The successful applicant will perform and oversee the financial performance & analysis and transactional finance activities for the energy drilling portfolio. 

This is a permanent opportunity based in Toowoomba (preferred) or Brisbane (with some regular travel required to Toowoomba) and you will be joining Australia’s largest provider of offshore drilling and well servicing, specialising in rig operations across Australia’s oil, gas and mining industries.

Key Duties  

  • Maintain the general ledger, sub-ledgers and financial reporting systems 
  • Deliver timely and accurate reporting of actuals against forecast and budget; including clear and concise variance analysis, and reporting of risks and opportunities
  • Prepare budgeting and forecasting requirements, inclusive of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of financial aspects of contracts within the portfolio; including application of various commercial models
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to the contract managers 
  • Take ownership of all financial processes and transactional data
  • Drive business & process improvement initiatives – developing solutions and reducing time taken for administrative and repetitive duties
  • Maintenance of SAP Data in line with contractual, cost control and billing requirements
  • Submit customer invoices in line with contract terms; with a focus on efficient billing practices to minimize duration of billing cycle
  • Proactively manage customer cash collection within contract terms

Skills and Experience    

  • Relevant Degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline or demonstrated equivalent professional experience
  • CA or CPA professional qualification desirable 
  • SAP experience is highly desirable
  • Sound computer skills including MS Excel
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team
  • Strong organisational skills 
  • Ability to manage, maintain, manipulate, and analyse multiple profit centres and large sets of data
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team.
