We were ranked #11 out of 4,255 publicly traded companies in the new Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index, making us one of the most diverse and inclusive workplaces globally. We have also been shortlisted in the Diversity Team of the Year category for European Diversity Awards, one of the most prestigious and widely respected diversity awards ceremony in Europe.

Celebrating diversity and actively creating an inclusive, collaborative culture without bias is core to our purpose of celebrating life everyday, everywhere. For our business to thrive, we depend on having the right people with the skills and capabilities in each of the 180 markets in which we operate. Every day, we celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive culture that provides all individuals the freedom to succeed, irrespective of their gender, race, religion, disability, age or sexual orientation. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is core to our business and runs right through our value chain, from our boardroom to our communities.

Mairead Nayager, Human Resources Director, commented:

"It is a great honour to be recognised as one of the top 25 most diverse and inclusive companies globally in the new Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index.

"At Diageo, we celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive culture that enables every individual in the organisation to contribute and grow in an environment where everyone is valued for who they uniquely are. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is core to our business purpose and strategy and as such we have set ourselves ambitious plans to ensure that our teams reflect the diversity of our consumers, customers and communities in which we operate.

"We are proud of the progress we have made to date, in particular that 47% of our Executive Committee and 42% of our Board members are women. Operating in over 150 countries, we are also committed to growing leaders who reflect our global scale. Currently our general managers represent over 25 different nationalities and we are growing future leaders through development programmes with global participation, in particular from our emerging markets.

"We believe our continued focus on diversity and inclusion unlocks huge advantage for our business and creates the conditions for every employee to be at their very best."

About Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Index

Unlike similar indices, the new Diversity & Inclusion Index and Ratings (D&I) from Thomson Reuters is based on standardized, normalized data as measured by 24 separate metrics across four key categories: Diversity, Inclusion, People Development and News Controversies. These metrics are then weighted for importance in the market, and updated continuously, to assess how a company compares against its peers to develop the ranking.

About the European Diversity Awards

Since their launch six years ago, the European Diversity Awards have become the continent’s most prestigious and widely respected diversity event. Recognising individuals and organisations who have made an outstanding contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion across Europe, the EDA brings together under one roof the leading movers and shakers in business, media and politics. The overall winners will be announced in November.
