We’re excited to announce that our Security Operations Centre is on the lookout for a Platform expert. This is a full time permanent role and we are looking for the Platform expert to start either at our Sydney or Melbourne office.

A little bit about the role

Reporting Platform Operations Manager the MSS Platform Expert will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing support of the Managed Security Services SOC platforms.  This position will be the focal point for platform incidents, changes and problem management functions aligning to the core ITIL principles. Not only will the successful candidate be providing assurance that the confidentiality and privacy of Telstra Managed Security Services customer data is protected; they will also be looking at improving the capacity, functionality and reliability of Telstra managed security real-time and proactive security monitoring platform.

The Platform Expert will be responsible for

  1. Managing Security Services SOC platform incidents, changes and problem management functions aligning to the core ITIL principles.
  2. Conducting investigative analysis on systems, root cause analysis, and resolution for metrics, tracking lessons learned, are compiled, documented and disseminated.
  3. Refining capabilities used to monitor, analyse, mitigate and triage platform events
  4. Creating and updating documented procedures for recording, assessing, analysing, communicating, rectifying, escalating and reporting platform incidents
  5. Effectively respond to all escalated security incidents however they are communicated, including telephone calls, trouble tickets, emails received in group email mailboxes, or by any other means

In order to hit the ground running we are looking for individuals who can confidently demonstrate the following

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in problem analysis
  • Knowledge and experience of Java and Regex
  • Experience in Cloud Virtualisation, Azure and AWS or similar
  • Big Data experience (HDFS, NoSQL, Pig, Hive, Kafka, HBase, NIFI, Storm, Ambari or related)
  • Linux Experience, preferably RedHat based
  • Would also prefer someone with experience and knowledge on Scripting Languages and preferably a background in Python and Java.
  • ITIL V3 Foundations would be highly desirable.
