Data Centre Administrator – Redhat/Linux - Defence Data Centre Operations


We are looking for experienced and competent Data Centre Administrators with Microsoft Windows expertise to join the Defence Data Centre Operations team in Canberra. The purpose of these roles is to operate and support the data centre platform that enables Telstra to deliver secure network and end user services to the Department of Defence. Successful applicants will need Service Operations experience managing incidents and changes, and the ability to solve technical problems to ensure improved system security, availability and performance.

Essential skills and experiences:

  • Qualification and experience managing and administering Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SCCM, AD, DNS & DHCP in a data centre environment.
  • Experience and competence with ITSM practices and processes (ITILv3 training)
  • Experience and competence collaborating with other technical staff responsible for Data Centre system administration

Highly desirable skills and experiences:

  • Experience and expertise in managing and administering several of the following technologies:
    • VMWare virtualisation and Software Defined Networking
    • F5 Load balancer networking
    • Lenovo XClarity administrator
    • Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7.x
    • NetApp Storage and Commvault Backup and Recovery technologies
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Current Negative Vetting 2 (NV2 – Top Secret) security clearance would be advantageous
  • IT or Engineering based degree or equivalent would be advantageous

Please note: Candidates must be Australian Citizens and have a current Australian Government NV1 security clearance to be considered, and be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 security clearance.
