We're working hard to become a world-class technology & service organisation and are looking for an exceptional Cyber Security Risk Lead to join the Cyber Security division

As the Cyber Security Risk Lead, you will take a leading role in implementing ‘world class’ cyber security risk management across Telstra. This includes developing, implementing and operationalising cyber security risk management processes and tools as well as engaging and working closely with key businesses across Telstra globally to help them better manage security risks and drive security outcomes as part of strategic initiatives by leveraging our internal capability and SMEs.

This is a key role with significant strategic alignment. You will be the point of contact to partner with Business Functions to help drive security outcomes as part of Business Function initiatives or specialist security reviews and activities; build a security risk capability across Cyber Security to then proactively engage and embed cyber security risk management processes with each Business Function (i.e., input into existing governance structures) – being a champion for Business Functions into Cyber Security; provide security insights across the Business Functions and raise security awareness.

As the designated security lead for various assigned Telstra Business Units (BUs), your key responsibilities and major tasks:

  • Develop implement and operationalise cyber security risk management processes across Telstra in conjunction with the Business Function Risk and Compliance teams, Chief Risk Office and Group Internal Audit as part of Telstra's Corporate Risk Management Approach / 3LOD (3 Lines of Defence). 
  • Providing comprehensive security consulting services (bringing together internal Cyber Security capability but also being able to articulate security concepts and risks in a way that the business can understand and action) – noting the strong consulting and engagement skillset required but also the need to have a proficient understanding and application of security concepts
  • Be accountable as the security leader for assigned complex initiatives end to end – providing direction to virtual team members including coaching of Cyber Security Risk Advisors, visibility to management and acting as an escalation point for the business

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience/qualifications/attributes:

  • Extensive experience leading security programs and working with different stakeholders in a matrix style environment
  • Extensive experience leading security consulting, audit or other engagement activities
  • Knowledge of information security frameworks, domains and principles such as ISO27001/2, PCIDSS, ISM, NIST etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of systems and telecommunication business domains, product and services
  • Ability to translate technical language into common business language. Proficiency in both business and technical report writing pending the target audient.
  • Tertiary qualifications in an IT, business analysis or related discipline
  • Industry certifications (would be desirable), including: Security: CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP, SABSA, CGEIT; and Project Management: CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2
