About the role
In this role you report into the Strategy Manager responsible for a certain portfolio. You provide subject matter expert advice to support the development of the corporate strategy by managing and maintaining data and information required for analysis and forecasting at agreed levels of quality and integrity.

  • Work with external stakeholders including government agencies, regulators, partners and customers and internal groups to support the development of ‘one’ Corporate strategy for the short, medium and long term that responds to the needs and aspirations of our customers.
  • Support the development of insight and intelligence that will enable an understanding the operating environment, future trends, and customer requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of the strategy and help shape key policy direction enabling the medium term and long term strategic direction
  • Prioritise and recommend policy positions for the organisation to take in order to address emerging business risks relating to government policy and regulatory reforms
  • Lead engagement with key stakeholders, including development and management of ongoing relationship to address business needs aligned to strategic direction.
  • Proactively implement agreed Strategy and Implementation Plan documents and align to the current Corporate Strategy such as Environment Strategic Plans, Climate Change Adaptation Implementation Plan, Sustainable Development Goals, Water Conservation

About you
For this position we look for a candidate with a strong understanding of urban planning, development, the implications of population and economic growth, and the emerging challenges faced by our cities and communities.

  • Degree qualified in one or more areas of urban planning, policy, environmental science, social sciences, engineering, economics, business, geography, data science & analytics or other relevant fields.
  • Extensive relevant work experience within a similar or related discipline and Project Management experience
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues, trends, drivers and links to customer/ regulatory needs, including the application of data science practices to business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact, build relationships both internal and external to the organisation.
  • A thorough understanding of quality/cost/risk trade-offs with a lens on short, medium and long-term outcomes.
  • Strong skills in risk management, financial and economic analysis and using/developing related tools in decision making
  • Understanding of the role that urban water management plays in achieving urban aspirations and outcomes, including concepts such as integrated urban water management, and water sensitive cities.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively problem solve for the longer term.
  • Ability to build trust, influence and communicate effectively in all forums.
  • Ability to foster new ways of working across Groups and external stakeholders.
