The continued strong impact of KPMG Australia’s Economics & Tax Centre on fiscal and social policy development has generated an opportunity for a tax professional with a strong interest in fiscal, economic and social policy.

Your opportunity

You will be engaged in the production of thought leadership material, responses to governmental inquiries and submissions on draft legislation in respect of matters which are nationally significant. Your activities may include:

  • Research and drafting of thought leadership material exploring opportunities for enhancement of government policies or programs, with an emphasis on the tax and transfer system
  • Co-authoring articles on emerging tax and fiscal policy issues for newspapers, professional journals and KPMG’s own web-based subscription news service
  • Preparation of submissions to parliamentary and government inquiries on current and future policy measures
  • Reviewing draft legislation and taxation rulings and providing input to Treasury and the Australian Taxation Office prior to their introduction.

How are you extraordinary?

  • Able to think analytically and critically, and have excellent oral and written communication.
  • Tertiary qualification, with 2+ years’ work experience as a tax professional (this can be in industry, in a professional services firm or in tax administration)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • A strong interest in making a constructive and positive impact on public policy and on the efficiency and integrity of the tax system.
