Reporting to the Director, Operations – Energy Markets, our Melbourne CBD-based team is seeking a Commodity Trading Advisor with significant energy market, risk management or analytical experience in the financial, commodity, or a related industry. Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Developing specific hedging strategies for energy commodities utilizing all available contract or financial instruments for industrial and commercial end-users and small generators/retailers
  • Performing various types of analyses to assist clients in determining risk appetite via customized strategies toward managing energy market risk
  • Presenting market analysis and strategic directions to external clients
  • Conducting weekly and monthly market meetings with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Training internal stakeholders on fundamentals of risk management methodologies
  • Development of risk management products and services

Whilst we don’t want to narrow the field we do believe the successful candidate will be degree qualified with demonstrated experience gained in energy commodity fundamentals including crude oils, fuels, natural gas, electric power applicable to Australia and global markets with an understanding of the application of financial instruments and derivatives. You understand macro-economic trends and technical charting with the ability to establish and manage a commodity strategy. In addition, you possess the inter-personal skills to build relationships with key stakeholders across departments and geographies.
