Senior Oracle DBA - Engineering


Play a key role in providing first-class relational database management systems support and be responsible for the technical delivery of database projects.

You will be assisting in producing database design patterns, as new versions of RDBMS software become available, or when new business or cost driven requirements evolve. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • assisting in producing database design patterns, as new versions of RDBMS software become available, or when new business or cost driven requirements evolve
  • involvement in disaster recovery planning and testing when required
  • database system builds, installations, provisioning, deployment and development
  • ongoing upgrade and maintenance of database versioning
  • ensuring that database systems are built to Macquarie standards and levels of support
  • ensuring optimum performance and availability of Macquarie's database systems
  • technical project management, in line with all Macquarie methodologies and processes
  • participation in scheduled weekend rosters to cover operational support and after-hours work when requested.

Technically you should possess the following:

  • Oracle RAC and experience with 11g and 12c
  • skills in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
  • SQL tuning and monitoring via AWR or tuning/diagnostics pack
  • Oracle database upgrades and application of quarterly Oracle CPU/PSU patches
  • Oracle Data Guard experience
  • advanced experience in using RMAN for backup and recovery
  • use of Automatic Storage Management (ASM) in a replicated SAN environment
  • experience with perl and/or shell scripting
  • strong RedHat Linux and/or Solaris skills
  • knowledge of ITIL practice and demonstrable experience with change management processes and procedures
  • experience with VERITAS and/or Windows Clustering, as well as SAN/disk replication products
  • experience with Cloud deployments (either public or private) preferred.
