Project Co. Technical Director- Kwinana Waste to Energy Project

  • Kwinana, Perth
  • Australia’s first thermal waste-to-energy facility project
  • Macquarie Services Partnership

Construction of Australia’s first thermal waste to energy facility, which has been co-developed by Macquarie Capital has commenced, and is scheduled to open by the end of 2021. The facility will be located in the Kwinana Industrial Area, 40 kilometres south of Perth. A 3-year maximum term contract opportunity exists for a strong Technical Director to join the team.

To succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate substantial direct project management experience, most likely with a major contractor on complex electrical/mechanical plants and preferably on power plants. Firsthand knowledge of the major risk areas in such projects and possible mitigation approaches is essential, and a tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.

Supported by a strong management team, we ask that you ideally bring the following skills to the role:

  • experience with interfacing boilers, turbines and ancillary infrastructure
  • awareness of applicable codes for design and operation
  • market knowledge of the major suppliers and subcontractors operating in the area of power plants
  • solid working knowledge of construction sequences and timeframes to enable an independent view on programme logic and performance
  • proven ability to lead others and independently plan own work and work of others
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills to initiate and minute meetings, write reports/recommendations, and lead discussions
