Manager/Senior Manager, Business Operational Risk – Cash Equities

Join our Commodities and Global Markets Operation Risk Management team where you will be primarily supporting our Cash Equities business across Australia and New Zealand. You will be responsible for implementing Macquarie’s Risk Management Framework including application of policies, implementation of Risk Control Self Assessments and analysis of operational incidents.

You will be part of a global team and the opportunity may exist to be considered for offshore placements in future.

With a focus on obtaining approval for and implementing new activities and businesses in a controlled manner, including but not limited to the review of governance structures, product management and processes, you’ll also document and lodge incident reports, self-assessment results, manage our Key Risk Indicators and other Operational Risk Management reporting.  There will be a requirement to work closely with support areas such as compliance, finance, settlements, risk and information technology in ensuring our business is operating in a controlled manner. In your role, you will also drive increased awareness of operational risk issues across the business, map and document processes, play an active role in assurance testing, conduct ad-hoc investigations as well as work closely with our Internal Audit function.

You’ll need to hold relevant business qualifications and have gained approximately 3-6 years of financial markets experience where exposure to operational risk management in a trading environment has been required.  You’ll see yourself as curious and innovative, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to integrity are essential.  We’re looking for a high level of confidence and strong communication skills so that you can not only build good relationships with key stakeholders, engendering trust and confidence, but also be able to challenge and question front office teams and mediate where necessary.  It will be important for you to identify and follow up on issues yet adopt a pragmatic approach to operational control to balance risk and returns. We have tight deadlines, so being able to deliver projects on time is another key attribute sought.

If you’d like to be a part of our global Operational Risk Management team, then please submit a covering letter and concise resume as one Word or PDF-formatted document.
