Equity Research Associate


We are currently looking to expand the Financials research team within Equity Research in our Sydney office. Bringing a strong interest in Equity Markets, you will be an integral member working across Banks and Diversified Financials.

As part of a highly regarded team in the market, you will help to shape the research agenda for the stocks under coverage including the major banks, regional banks, fund managers, and diversified financials. The research associate is responsible for undertaking analysis that underpins our thought leading research, conducting primary research through surveys and via meeting industry contacts, assist with the writing of sector publications and company reports, and building financial models. You will have exposure to top executives in the banking and financial services industries and clients (fund managers). As part of a high profile team within the equity research function with significant exposure and readership, this is an opportunity for a strong analyst to make a real impact in the equities industry.

Your key responsibilities will include Independently managing data collection and analysis, building and updating financial models and stock valuations, writing company and sector research, fulfilling client requests, meeting company management and liaising with clients, and organising industry contact meetings.

You should have 2-5 years of experience within a top consulting firm, investment bank, accounting firm, or strategy/corporate development team within a bank or financial services organisation. You will hold an undergraduate or masters from a top university with consistent academic results (distinction average or above), preferably majoring in Accounting / Finance / economics (CA or CFA will be highly regarded). You will be a driven and motivated professional with an analytical bent, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, commercial acumen, and hold a keen sense of intellectual curiosity. Your ability to think strategically will set you apart from peers, and you will possess solid excel skills including an ability to perform financial modelling and valuations.
