KPMG Australia’s Actuarial and Financial Risk has a team of over 120 professionals, based in Sydney and Melbourne.  These professionals include Credit and Market Risk specialists who are the advisory team of choice for some of the largest and leading financial institutions globally. We provide specialist risk management services across banking, wealth management, corporate treasury, and insurance. Our clients include the leading banks, financial institutions and financial services companies operating in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.

We are looking for exceptional people at Senior Consultant and Manager level to join our teams in the Sydney and Melbourne offices to support a growing practice in credit and market risk management.  Enquiries from more senior people are also welcome.

Your Opportunity

You will work closely with partners, directors and other experienced staff to execute a range of projects and advisory engagements.  You will have client facing opportunities and be involved in whole projects not just tasks, giving you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of wider business issues.  Your role will include:

  • Providing expert advice in quantitative and qualitative credit and market risk management;
  • Assisting in developing and validating quantitative risk models for clients in the financial services sector;
  • Interacting with clients and stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions; and
  • Managing client deliverables and expectations, including drafting client reports and presentations.

You will often be working in multidisciplinary teams to solve client problems and will require a drive to innovate. We will offer career development through an extensive support and mentoring network.

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include: 

  • Tertiary qualifications or higher in mathematics, statistics, actuarial studies, finance, or related discipline
  • Solid level of experience in programming solutions to develop/validate statistical models for credit or market risk management
  • Experience in statistical packages such as SAS, R and VBA
  • An ability to solve new and technically challenging problems, either independently or as part of a small team
  • Experience in an environment that has included working to deadlines and under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively
