Consultant / Senior Consultant (JAVA Developer) - Insurance – Sydney

Key Responsibilities:
 
Develop, implement, and maintain solutions related to Java technologies.

  • Review and analyse business requirements for implementation
  • Collaborate with business analysts to recommend business solutions
  • Collaborate with solution architects to recommend technical solutions
  • Write well-designed and test-driven code
  • Collaborate with quality assurance team to conduct software issue analysis and debugging
  • Collaborate with release management team to prepare software product releases
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical leads to review work breakdown and estimate effort
  • Actively contribute to improvement on:
    • Software development lifecycle
    • Technical solution offerings
    • Team knowledge sharing

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Proven commercial experience in Java application development (2-5 years)
  • Solid knowledge on myriad Java related technologies across the stack (front-end to back-end)
  • Proven experience (and strong appreciation) working in an Agile or iterative development team
  • Self-starter who has strong understanding on the importance of meeting delivery commitments, as well as finding balance on software engineering good practices
  • Hands-on and constantly on the look out to improve self and team efficiency
  • Have interest to work in an environment where technology consulting and product development are primary focus
  • Have interest to lead a team of any size across geographical regions
  • Have exposure to financial services sector (added advantage)
