Development Victoria aims to create a sense of place and prosperity through development, urban renewal and community connection. Development Victoria formally operate as a statutory authority, reporting to a Board.
Development Victoria will deliver property and precinct development projects to meet government’s policy objectives and apply its experience and expertise to the delivery of civic projects that enhance our state. Development Victoria staff are skilled in realising opportunities and managing risks to develop publicly owned land and deliver complex projects.
Some of Development Victoria’s current projects include the revitalisation of central Dandenong, the Ballarat West Employment Zone, and the ongoing development of Docklands. It also oversees important civic projects such as the State Library, Flinders Street Station and Melbourne Park redevelopments. Projects in the pipeline include renewal of the Arden and Fishermans Bend precincts.
About the role
The General Motors Holden (GMH) site located at Fishermans Bend has been acquired to deliver a 'Precinct of Excellence' with the intention of developing Australia's newest home for design, research, advanced manufacturing and engineering.
The purchase of the site, right in the heart of Fishermans Bend, means more jobs, more investment, more research and more development.
The entire site is 37.7 hectares or the equivalent of approximately nine CBD blocks and is just 5 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD.
The site will be the centrepiece of the Fishermans Bend Employment Precinct. Fishermans Bend will support 80,000 residents and 60,000 jobs by 2050.
As a Senior Development Manager in our Precincts team, you will manage the development team through the planning, design, construction, and delivery of the GMH site. Your diverse project portfolio will comprise residential, commercial, mixed-use, retail and public realm developments and will require you to work in partnership with high profile development partners.
You will manage the development team through the planning, design and construction in accordance with Development Victoria’s strategic objectives, policies and processes. While managing Development Agreements with our development partners and facilitating the delivery of public realm and community infrastructure projects.
Reporting to a Development Director and working collaboratively with another SDM in a Job shared position, you will both work 3 days a week to lead and be supported by a Development Managers and an Assistant Development Manager.
