Word Processing Operator - Part Time


The role
Reporting to the WP Manager, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experience WP Operator to join our National WP team located in Brisbane on a 12 month contract. This role will see you working with a Brisbane-based team of operators to provide a full range of high quality word processing services to the firm nationally.

This a part-time position, working 4 days per week. The shift hours for this role are: 11am - 4pm, Tuesday to Friday.

Following the successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period, there is an opportunity to be set up to work from home.

Key responsibilities
In this varied and busy role you will be responsible for:

  • Typing memos & other correspondence
  • Rendering handwritten or dictated edits to documents
  • Maintaining CU standards in document format
  • Working with client documents in accordance with their design
  • Working with specialised templates, eg. tenders, Australian Standards, Department of Defence
  • Conversion of documents to CU format and styles
  • Providing services directly to external clients
  • Converting PDFs to Word
  • Fixing problematic documents (reapplying styles, restoring paragraph numbering and cross references, fixing erroneous section breaks and associated headers or footers, fixing footnotes and endnotes etc)
  • Comparing documents (Word and/or PDF, or PowerPoint to PowerPoint)
  • Transcribing court proceedings, meetings, interviews and teleconferences
  • Working with precedents
  • Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets, Visio diagrams, PowerPoint presentations
  • Assembling multiple documents into a single PDF
  • Managing images in documents (including resizing and cropping)
  • Working with interactive PDFs, eg. LPI forms
  • Editing PDF files, eg. bookmarking, paginating, redacting

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Typing speed of 80 WPM (minimum)
  • At least 5 years' legal WP experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to various jobs types
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills (experience in working with client style documents and specialised template based Word documents)
  • Advanced skillset and experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced skillset and experience in Microsoft Visio
  • Advanced level of written and oral communication skills

In addition to this, we are looking for a resilient, self-starter. Someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients.

The Word Processing Department
The Word Processing Department offers a high range of services in document production and management, using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VISIO (graphics software), Nuance (Acrobat software) and Workshare Compare (comparison software).
