We now have a vacancy for a Data Engineer to join our team. The Data Engineer is a member of the Analytics Platform. The Analytics Platform is responsible for delivering the data solutions the bank needs to help people achieve what matters, today and for generations to come. As part of this, it involves the development and execution of a portfolio of strategic and operational change, both within the Divisions and across Group, that is associated with (but not limited to) that technology. You will be responsible for delivering quality outcomes through the squads made up of Customer Outcome Owner, Scrum Master and Engineers.

You will work within a squad in the Analytics Platform and report to the Engineering Team Leader. The Analytics Platform operates within the AGILE model and you will be expected to adopt and contribute to productive scrums. You will also have the opportunity to bring your knowledge and experience to the table and contribute to final end-to-end solution designs.

Your key responsibilities will also include: 

This position is for a Data Engineer with expertise in the SAS DI Studio and Business Intelligence. In-depth understanding of dimensional modelling is required, with strong communication skills and a strong commitment to and affinity for delivering the highest quality of products. UNIX Scripting, and/or Oracle SQL is a plus.

Key Deliverables include:

  • Act as a subject matter expert in data warehousing and dimensional modelling.
  • Design data integration/ETL jobs using SAS and its foundation tools
  • Modify and/or enhance existing SAS code.
  • Work with a job scheduler like CTRL-M to run jobs.

The successful applicant will possess the following key skills and attributes;

  • Solid & proven data warehouse experience: Expertise in delivering optimized business solutions by data modelling/data architecture, performing impact/risk/gap analysis, identification of facts, dimensions, aggregates and hierarchies.
  • Extensive experience in SAS DI Studio and BASE SAS
  • Production support
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Coach junior development colleagues
  • Ability to elicit information from key stakeholders
  • Strong decision making and analytical skills
  • Ability to work with both technical and non-technical employees at all levels.
  • Ability to perform in-depth systems and data analytics
  • Data analysis and report writing for the business
  • Agile Development
  • Continuous Delivery and DevOps
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Coding and Testing

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Agile Certification (Scrum master or similar)
  • Tertiary Qualifications relating to Software engineering or similar ITC disciplines.
