About the role:

Aurecon’s global Energy, Resources and Manufacturing team provides expertise across many key markets, including Energy Utilities, Renewable Energies, Traction Power, Infrastructure, Defence, Mining and Manufacturing. We are currently inviting applications from mid to senior level Electrical and Power System Engineers to join the teams at our Melbourne and Adelaide offices. These roles will be offered on a permanent staff basis with outstanding career development opportunities.

The requirements of the position will include:

  • Scope, undertake and lead where appropriate all manner of HV design and power systems analysis projects across a wide range of industries, including:
      • Load Flow, Fault level and Protection co-ordination studies
      • Earthing design and analysis
      • Specialist electromagnetic transient studies – generator stability studies in weak networks, lightning overvoltage and insulation co-ordination, switching transients, incident investigations, induction, fault current distribution, motor starting, harmonic and power factor correction analysis.
      • Generator proponent connection studies
      • Substation design (primary and secondary)
      • Developing electrical calculations, drawings, data sheets, project related specifications, reports and other design documentation as required and in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Site inspections for compliance with design and standards and identification of issues and risks
  • Utilise local and inter-office work collaboration capabilities to enhance delivery of projects
  • Promote, test and implement innovative ideas and concepts to further improve delivery processes and the clients experience
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other staff

 What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with a focus on HV or power systems analysis (CPEng preferred)
  • Relevant experience in a role focussing on HV or power system analysis with close contact with the electricity industry or consumer high voltage network owners/operators
  • Exposure to multi-disciplined projects
  • Strong design and analytical skills in HV and power systems studies including experience in the use of relevant power systems packages (PSS/e, Paladin DesignBase, Powertools for Windows, ETAP, CDEGS)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for continual learning and development
