Hazardous Materials Manager

We are currently seeking a talented Hazardous Materials Manager (or similar) who has extensive experience in the ANZ market, and ability to collaborate within a regional ANZ team. The role will involve servicing a range of our market sectors and the growth of our hazardous materials service line. Of high value would be sector profile in relation to major infrastructure, remediation and rehabilitation of industrial, energy and resource sites and experience in the Defence sector. The position will a full time role based in our Neutral Bay office.

Aligned with Aurecon’s key attributes, the key role requirements will include

  • Providing high value project director level hazardous materials advice on a range of traditional and complex land management projects
  • Managing the strategy and operations of the hazardous materials business in ANZ 
  • Developing strategic plans to support the growth of the hazardous materials practice in NSW, as well as participating in regional and global environmental  initiatives
  • Developing and maintaining work pipeline and working with our Market Leaders in opportunity pursuit.
  • Providing high value environmental assessment, environmental management and technical advice on advisory, assessment, remediation and operation of projects
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, in particular the contaminated land practice and Defence project delivery service teams throughout ANZ
  • Managing field teams, sub-consultants and sub-contractors
  • Maintaining client relationships and enhancing the profile of our business through industry association and by increasing Aurecon brand awareness
  • Preparing reports and presentations of a high technical and editorial quality 
  • Working collaboratively to provide technical advice to multidisciplinary project teams and to clients
  • Recruitment and development of our team to meet with Aurecon business strategy

Your ideal qualifications and skills would include:

  • Substantial experience in directing hazardous material, contaminated land assessment, remediation and/or environmental management  
  • Experience in the infrastructure, energy and Defence markets
  • Experience winning and managing large scale portfolio level projects in metropolitan and regional areas for different markets.
  • Applied knowledge of ANZ hazardous material and contaminated land regulation, waste management and related planning instruments
  • Strong communicator and natural collaborator
  • Ability to manage teams and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, taking responsibility for delivery in a fast paced environment
  • High level presentation and written communications skills
  • A desire to deliver exceptional client experiences
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
  • Licenced Asbestos Assessor (LAA) status required
  • Certified Environmental Practitioner status desirable
  • Member and contributor to professional association desirable
  • Current drivers licence.
