Aurecon’s Energy team considers itself a leading player in the energy sector – part of the transformation, part of the future. The team is primarily responsible for the provision of energy strategic advisory, design and delivery services required to support a wide range of projects Australia-wide across the energy supply chain.

Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer - Future Energy, this role is ideally suited to an individual who can:

  • Combine theory and creativity to produce innovative, value-adding modelling and automation solutions to complex and unprecedented client problems as related to energy supply systems 
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in client processes and workflows through provision of automated solutions 
  • Draw insightful conclusions from technical studies and results, which can be used to support commercial decision making 

You will have a demonstrable desire to progress your career in a technically driven multidisciplinary setting, and hold:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline e.g. Electronics, Software or Computer Engineering
  • Demonstrated understanding of the energy supply chain and the role of key stakeholders in the National Electricity Market
  • Basic understanding of power systems plant and systems
  • Experience in two or more of the following areas:
    • Power system modelling and simulation using applications such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, SINCAL, MATLAB-Simulink etc.
    • Python or Visual Basic programming ability
    • Complex data visualisation
    • Energy market modelling
    • Software/algorithm design
    • Statistics and probabilistic techniques
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Proven exceptional communication, team working and report writing skills

Responsibilities:

  • Promoting safety, controlling environmental impacts and complying with legislative and code of conduct requirements
  • Ensuring Aurecon’s quality systems and established internal governance processes are followed
  • Accountability for the provision of client deliverables within budget and with required deadlines achieved
  • Collaborating internally and externally to ensure optimal, high quality solutions are delivered
  • Provision of technical advice as related to the relevant disciplines
  • Occasional assistance with on-the-job training for graduates, trainees and other Aurecon staff
