About the role:
Join our undergraduate Vacation Program to gain hands on industry experience in our dynamic and innovative organisation. These paid undergraduate positions are offered once a year for a 12-week placement over the summer holiday period (Nov 2025 - Feb 2026), working 4 days per week. This year we have the below opportunities available:
Opportunity 5: Development Services
- Support our Development Services team committed to enabling economic growth of the region through approval of connections to extend the existing network in accordance with Network Master Plans.
- Assist with assessment of applications, field work and gain an understanding of the SEQ code.
- Open to: Civil Engineering students
- Location: Mango Hill and Maroochydore
Opportunity 6: Private Works
- Contribute to a range of projects within our Private Works team responsible for constructing water infrastructure in the community.
- Gain experience in project management, design and engineering, site construction, problem solving, planning and execution, documentation and permitting, regulatory knowledge.
- Open to: Civil Engineering students
- Location: Morayfield
Opportunity 7: Network Isolation Planning
- Working within the Network Operations team, assist with creation of isolation shut plans relating to network access permits and create non-complex isolation plans.
- Gain an understanding of water and sewer network isolations including water network rezoning. Learn GIS and Permit to Work software.
- Open to: Civil Engineering students
- Location: Maroochydore
Opportunity 8: Network Engineering
- Gain insight to the intricate water and sewer network operation.
- Reviewing network schematics, support network investigations including field visits and data logging.
- Experience fault analysis, complex problem solving, case management, stakeholder consultation and teamwork.
- Open to: Civil or Mechanical Engineering students.
- Location: Maroochydore
Opportunity 9: Infrastructure Solutions – Network Program
- Working with Project Managers, support the Project Delivery team with day to day activities and deliverables, ranging from developing scope works to review end of month contractor claims.
- Gain experience in project delivery, governance, planning, forecasting, site inspections and contractor negotiations.
- Open to: Civil or Mechanical Engineering students.
- Location: Maroochydore
Opportunity 10: Asset Knowledge and Performance
- Gain hands on experience across multiple teams within Asset Knowledge and Performance including water quality, infrastructure standards, strategic planning, asset analytics and renewal planning.
- Complete a project that will involve a combination of research, data analysis, concept engineering and report writing.
- Open to: Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering students.
- Location: Mango Hill or Maroochydore
Opportunity 11: Operational Technology
- Working within our Operational Technology team assisting with the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Program, students will undertake site audits and assist in the commissioning of the systems.
- Gain an understanding of Control System Architectures typically used in wastewater treatment plants and some basic hands-on experience programming SCADA and PLC.
- Open to: Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science students Location: Morayfield
