Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making across the business.

You will work closely with cross-divisional teams to identify use cases to enhance Members experiences.

You will develop predictive models, perform advanced analyses, and support initiatives aimed at improving member engagement and operational efficiency.

Who are we?

Teachers Health was created by teachers for teachers over 70 years ago and is the only health fund exclusively for the education community. As a not-for-profit health fund, we exist for our members covering the lives of over 400,000 teachers, education staff & their families.
  
What will you do? 

  • Develop and maintain predictive using machine learning techniques
  • Find and execute on use cases for GenAI that support the delivery of outstanding member experiences, either through our member support channels or direct to Member.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and deep dives to uncover insights that inform business strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data-driven KPIs and create dashboards/reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Work with actuarial, product, transformation and marketing teams to support segmentation, Targeting, UX and retention initiatives.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous validation and monitoring practices.
  • Translate complex analytical outputs into actionable insights and 

What do you need? 

  • Proficiency in Python or R, and SQL for data manipulation and model development.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a data science and advanced analytics role.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost) and statistical modelling techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Data Bricks and Azure.
  • Strong data visualization skills with tools like Power BI or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, AI ethics, privacy, and compliance issues—especially within financial services.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively.
