About the position:

We have an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Operations (Capital Projects) team as an Project Investigations & Development Lead, contributing to our business and project delivery requirements. We seek a goal-oriented individual focused on developing and evaluating capital projects from the concept stage to the pre-feasability stage. The role will also lead the Electrical Safety Assurance Program.

Reporting to the Manager Project Investigations, core to the role is your ability to collaborate with internal clients, project sponsors and stakeholders to define and confirm objectives of projects, lead the investigation studies and options analysis to identify, detail and evaluate best for business project solutions. As well as identify, evaluate, and implement electrical safety improvement opportunities, driving change in safety practices.

About the location:

This is a pivotal role that can, by mutual agreement, offer flexible working arrangements, as Snowy Hydro appreciates the additional value such arrangements can bring to our business and to our employees. Please note this position requires you to be located in Cooma or the surrounding area with the ability to attend our office in Cooma on a regular basis. Snowy Hydro is able to assist with your relocation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate pre-feasibility studies to determine the best investment options across disciplines and business units.
  • Liaise extensively with stakeholders to achieve optimal business outcomes.
  • Oversee and facilitate design investigations by external consultants, in collaboration with delivery teams.
  • Maintain a commercial focus during the design investigation process and research industry innovations.
  • Lead the SHL Electrical Safety Assurance Program.
  • Identify and evaluate electrical safety improvement opportunities, driving change in safety practices.
  • Develop & maintain the electrical safety compliance & assurance program

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years industry experience in project engineering or asset engineering in the power generation or other heavy industry
  • Demonstrated experience in managing assurance programs and a practical understanding of asset function and operations
  • Sound capability to review & assess consultant designs and recommendations on engineering projects, well-developed analytical and research skills.
  • Strong communications skills including the ability to build rapport with both technical and non-technical personnel
