About the position:

Are you a seasoned compliance professional with an understanding of wholesale energy markets? Snowy Hydro is looking for a Manager, Wholesale Markets Compliance to join our dynamic team in Sydney.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of our wholesale market operations, which include treasury, electricity, environmental certificates, and gas.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving Compliance Frameworks: Implement, maintain, and report on Snowy Hydro's risk and compliance framework for wholesale market businesses.
  • Portfolio & Trading Risk Management: Coordinate the maintenance, review, update, and continuous improvement of Snowy’s Portfolio & Trading Risk Management Framework (PTRMF) and its associated policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Risk Analysis & Reporting: Analyse financial and non-financial risks within Snowy’s wholesale trading portfolios, preparing and sharing comprehensive risk reports with various risk committees.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Support the Portfolio & Trading team in meeting various compliance obligations, including the National Electricity Rules (NER), National Gas Rules (NGR), Australian Financial Services (AFS) Licence, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF), ASIC Derivative Transaction Reporting Rules, AER Enhanced Wholesale Market Monitoring, and other trade and regulatory reporting.
  • Monitoring & Assurance: Support the implementation of monitoring and assurance processes, assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of existing controls.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate engagement with teams across the business to ensure transparency and effective information sharing.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and streamlining to enhance efficiency and collective output.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline and/or relevant industry qualification(s).
  • Previous experience in a risk, compliance, wholesale market, and/or other relevant function.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills and a strong capability for building lasting relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and successfully deliver on complex workstreams.
  • Ability to make a positive contribution to Snowy Hydro’s risk and compliance culture, modelling behaviours aligned with our values.
  • Experience in relevant energy (and/or associated) wholesale markets is highly regarded.
