GIS Officer - Snowy 2.0

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

The Role:

Join us in the heart of the Snowy Mountains as a GIS Officer for the groundbreaking Snowy 2.0 Pumped Hydro Project!

Located in Cooma, you'll experience the beauty of the Snowy Mountains every day. Surrounded by stunning landscapes and a welcoming community, Cooma offers a high quality of life with a range of outdoor activities, from skiing and hiking to fishing and mountain biking

As a GIS Officer, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining GIS services for Snowy 2.0. You'll work closely with our Owner's Team and Contractor to ensure that Employers Requirements are met, contributing to the success of this landmark project.

We understand that relocating to a regional area can be both exciting and challenging. That's why we offer a flexible relocation package and are committed to supporting your transition to regional life over a 12-month period.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and coordinate digital data across multiple teams
  • Produce high quality cartographical figures and dashboards for technical reports and teams
  • Maintain and update GIS databases
  • Provide spatial content suitable for dissemination via GIS applications
  • Prepare and update data ready to be consumed by web and mobile applications
  • Perform web and mobile application configuration as requested and maintain content as required of the business unit and its projects
  • Apply spatial knowledge and sound software skills to capture, maintain and enhance spatial information received from various sources
  • Follow QA/QC procedures and maintain high standards of quality with all spatial data management and deliverables

We're looking for someone with:

  • Relevant qualification in a spatial information or surveying related discipline or relevant experience in GIS
  • Experience in the use of mapping (for example ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS etc) and database software products
  • An understanding of geospatial data capture, processing, manipulation and map production
  • Good interpersonal skills and capacity to work effectively within a team environment and to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Current Driver's Licence
