Snowy Hydro is looking for the next generation of apprentices to join our team in 2025. Our tradespeople play a key role in our business success and we need you!

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic integrated energy company supplying electricity to more than 1 million customers. As a provider of essential services, we keep the lights on at times of peak demand and support local jobs in the Snowy Mountains region.

Our apprentice program offers opportunities for local people to commence a four-year electrical trade. Apprentices will complete a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician through TAFE and on-the-job training and mentoring by our experienced tradespersons.

To ensure you develop a wide range of skills, as an apprentice you will have the opportunity to rotate through the Snowy Scheme's operating and maintenance centres in Jindabyne, Khancoban, Cabramurra and Talbingo.

To be a Snowy Hydro apprentice, you will be someone who

  • has a can-do attitude
  • is self motivated and an autonomous learner
  • be proactive, motivated, punctual and reliable with a genuine interest in the chosen field
  • is able to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team
  • is able to travel and relocate around the region as part of the role
  • has strong communication and interpersonal skills, and is motivated by the chance to learn
  • has an agile and flexible approach to a changing learning environment and is able to work with different mentors across our regions
  • shares the Snowy Hydro values of safety, teamwork, agility, decency, ownership and courage

As an apprentice, you will:

  • learn, develop and grow within the business
  • complete a trade qualification in an electrical discipline
  • work with and be mentored by technical experts in a complex and highly technical environment
  • build a successful career whilst maintaining a regional lifestyle
