Bank Operational Risk Lead


Are you passionate about fostering a culture of risk awareness within a dynamic banking environment? RACQ Bank is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Line 2 Bank Risk and Compliance team for a 12-month contract as a Bank Operational Risk Lead. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving a risk-aware culture across our organization by providing advice, coaching and support to the Bank Line 1 teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the creation and implementation of policies, processes, and systems for risk advisory and assurance.
  • Leading the 2nd line-of-accountability role of challenge and assurance of risk decision making and behaviour across the Bank.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in the delivery of Bank and or Group Risk and Compliance projects such as the implementation of CPS230
  • Driving continuous improvement of risk decision making, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Co-ordination and delivery of accurate and effective risk reporting.
  • Providing leadership and training to ensure the effective implementation of risk policies and governance directives.

About You

  • Critical analysis of problems to uncover hidden insights with an enquiring mind and inquisitive nature regardless of obstacles.
  • Experience working in risk, compliance, audit, or governance roles, preferably within theBankingsector.
  • Well-developed capability to establish rapport with internal and external stakeholders and effectively influence their views, decisions, and actions through well-reasoned and researched arguments.
  • Ability to adapt strategy to changing internal and external drivers and to promulgate changes to stakeholders.
  • Ability to act unsupervised to achieve communicated objectives.
  • Highly developed aptitude for empathetic reasoning.
  • Technical risk management framework expertise.
  • Deep understanding and practical experience in the Prudential framework in which the Bank operates.
  • Courage to speak up regardless of position when things are wrong.
  • Strong working knowledge of insurance operations and regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
