Senior Client Service Officer Specialist

  • Location: Northern NSW
  • Clerk Grade 5/6 $93,295 - $102,941 pa plus superannuation & annual leave loading

Your role

A Senior Client Service Officer (SCSO) provides a broad range of services including applicant, tenancy and property management services and advice to clients, including those with complex support needs. The SCSO role builds and maintains relationships with the housing service sector including advocates and other stakeholders across the access and tenancy service streams.

In this SCSO role there is a mixture of field work to engage with clients in situ and office-based work. The outreach work can include engaging with rough sleepers or people who have been residing in pod villages after the 2022 Northern River Floods. These roles capture a wide range of housing services and requires someone who is proactive, adaptive, ethical, and positive. Having exceptional time management will keep you in good stead for the fast-paced and varied role. 

What you’ll do

Assertive Outreach:

A life as a SCSO in Assertive Outreach (AO) means working in collaboration with case workers in the Spealist Homelessness Services (SHS) organisations to go on early-morning patrols - being an early bird will assist you in this. You will also work alongside nurses, mental health and drug and alcohol workers to assist clients in getting support. You will maintain various data sets including the AO operations spreadsheets and respond to rough sleeper flags. You will organise Temporary Accommodation (TA) for clients and assist in maintaining clients in TA providers, alongside the caseworkers. You will also work towards supporting clients to maintain tencancies when housed, You will be client-focused, engagement focused, have exceptional communication, people skills and ensure follow through on tasks.

Housing Recovery and Response Team (HRRT):

This is a dynamic team that supports flood-affected people secure suitable and safe housing. The role includes attending temporary pod villages in various locations across the Northern NSW district. Working face to face with disaster affected people to help secure long-term accommodation. Collaborating with Recovery Support Services (RSS) and community housing providers to help eligible clients apply for housing assistance and identify other suitable housing options. Working in an agile work environment means you will utilise mobile technology to carry out work activities. You will work maintain client information and records management systems to help progress housing application assessments in a timely manner. Whilst being able to work independently, you will also work alongside other HOMES NSW teams assist with property allocation. You will liaise directly with the Team Leader of the HRRT to ensure reporting data is accurately updated and maintained.
