The Digital Product Designer plays a key role in delivering high-quality, human-centered digital designs that improve member experiences. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and accessible solutions while contributing to HCF’s design system and digital transformation efforts.

Digital Product Designer (12-Month Contract)

Make an impact on the future of healthcare with design that matters.

At HCF, we’re Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund, driven by a commitment to making healthcare more accessible for our members. We’re looking for a Digital Product Designer to join our collaborative design team on a 12-month contract (with potential to extend).

In this role, you’ll be part of a newly formed squad alongside a Product Manager and Developers, designing core digital experiences for our website—one of our most important member touchpoints. You’ll see your work go live regularly, with direct impact on the way people engage with their health. We’re a tight-knit team that values creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning. Through design crits, shared practices, and growth planning, we’ll support you to expand your skills and pursue your career goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Human-Centred Design – Translate member needs and business goals into effective, user-friendly digital experiences.
  • Prototyping & Design Execution – Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma, bringing ideas to life and into production quickly.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Partner with developers, product managers, brand, and content teams to deliver cohesive and consistent experiences.
  • Design Systems – Contribute to and extend our design system, ensuring alignment across digital platforms.
  • Research & Testing – Use data, insights, and testing to inform and iterate on your designs.
  • Accessibility & Compliance – Ensure all designs meet WCAG standards and regulatory requirements in healthcare and insurance.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Proven experience designing digital products in a complex or regulated environment (e.g. financial services, healthcare, insurance).
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to balance differing perspectives to reach effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including prototyping and building reusable components.
  • Experience applying human-centred design and interpreting data/analytics to inform design decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both visual and verbal.

Desirable

  • Experience designing for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or other CMS environments.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Background in healthcare, insurance, or another highly regulated sector.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery.

Why HCF?

  • A chance to design for good - making a real impact on how Australians access and experience healthcare.
  • Work in a collaborative, human-centred design team that values creativity, learning, and growth.
  • Hybrid working model with flexibility to balance work and life.
  • Exposure to a broad digital ecosystem, including AEM, SEO, and brand-led initiatives.
