What the day will look like

Head of Property is responsible for the profitable underwriting of the Property Portfolio within One Underwriting. In addition to this the role is responsible for staff management and training of property underwriters, internal reporting, external binder management and reporting, portfolio strategy, product and binder compliance and governance. The role is also a hands-on Underwriting role for renewal and new business including broker relationship management and development of both Aon and external brokers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Underwriting of New Business and Renewals focusing on retention of existing clients and growth in new business
  • Work with the underwriting team to ensure that the Insurance and risk management needs of the clients are fully met
  • Manage and coach team members and oversee activity in line with business plan and strategy
  • Keep clients appropriately informed of all matters relating to their insurance and to prepare and execute policy documentation implementing client’s instructions
  • Ensure strict compliance with statutory and FSRA requirements, industry and other codes of practice, underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures for all activities undertaken by One Underwriting
  • Assist with gathering market intelligence that affects the key products, distribution, and potential growth
  • Building rapport with and providing a professional and effective service to intermediaries and key stakeholders

  • Experienced leader 
  • The ability to learn and understand technical matters quickly

  • Strong teamwork and the drive to complete administrative tasks on time and to a high standard
  • Adaptability, resilience and flexibility are important, under-pinned by a strong work ethic
  • Intermediate-advance user of Excel preferred along with other Microsoft Office products
