About the role

Based out at our site in Mount Beauty, Victoria, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operational Systems Engineer to be responsible for provision of technology infrastructure and problem escalation services for AGL’s Operational Network.

This position will be responsible for developing new technologies and maintaining a functional, highly available, resilient, scalable and secure network environment within AGL’s Operational Networks. We are looking for someone who has a passion for creating a network that caters for our existing and future business needs.

This is a permanent full-time role.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Server Management – Support operating system and application configuration of Operational Network servers including Active Directory domains and SQL databases. and hardware. Develop and maintain system documentation. Procurement of server hardware and software as directed. Manage remote access systems and provide after-hours support for critical systems.
  • Network Management – Provide design direction and technical support for our extensive network, including switches, routers and firewalls. Proactively monitor network systems. Design and engineer innovative solutions to facilitate robust and secure interfaces between diverse technologies. Liaise with third party IT service providers as required.
  • Operational Network Security – Monitor the security of our infrastructure and report suspicious activity to the AGL IT Cyber Security team. Manage and update virus protection software. Conduct proactive health checks.
  • Manage scheduling of system outages to minimise business disruption.
  • Provide client focused, pro-active support.
  • Carry out monthly reporting of performance metrics.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • Substantial experience providing IT support services in an operational environment such as manufacturing or industrial sites.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, BGP and RIP.
  • Advanced Microsoft OS, Active Directory and application support skills.
  • Knowledge of IT security, Disaster Recovery, VMware, Storage industrial automation will be highly regarded.
  • A passion for working as a part of a team that provides key business solutions and embraces industry best practice.
  • The ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
