Manager Partnerships And Channel Development

About the Role

This exciting position is responsible for developing and implementing AGL’s channel development and partnership strategy for it’s residential and small business energy markets, and the ongoing assessment framework to integrate new opportunities.

Reporting into the Head of Consumer Sales you will lead a team in developing and building a pipeline of channel and partner opportunities, in alignment with the wider Customer Markets strategic initiatives. The role will work cross-functionally to support AGL’s consumer market distribution strategy across multiple horizons, to meet the needs of AGL now and into the future.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of four high performing Channel Development Managers 
  • Identify trends and opportunities in the energy industry and related service industries, both domestically and internationally
  • Create and implement a new channel development framework and process to assess new opportunities
  • Develop strategic distribution opportunities with new channels, including: the negotiating of contracts, managing of pricing, evaluation of opportunity potential, pitching opportunities internally, and developing proposals that complement AGL’s growth strategy
  • Lead partnership discussions including idea conceptualisation and high-level commercial negotiations
  • Lead onboarding and go to market process for new partners in consultation with broader AGL functional teams, such as establishing operational systems, channel management, setting sales targets, and marketing support


About You   

  • Excellent understanding of consumer trends and channel management within the energy sector or in a transferable consumer service industry
  • Ability to identify and maximise commercial opportunities, whilst successfully matching organisational capabilities with customer demand 
  • Experience with motivating direct and indirect teams to facilitate cross functional collaboration  
  • Excellent communicator who can engage across different stakeholder groups and multiple business units
  • Demonstrated success in being able to conceptualise complex commercial variables and be comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Achievement oriented, well disciplined, task focussed with a strong sense of timeliness and an ability to develop those characteristics in others.
  • Outstanding presentation, negotiation and influencing skills
