Senior Social Engagement Consultant

Job Summary

The AECOM communication and engagement team is hiring!

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Social Engagement Consultant who is excited about engaging stakeholders and local communities on a variety of environmental, infrastructure and urban planning projects across Australia.

Minimum Requirements

You will have experience in all or some of the below areas:

  • Communication and engagement strategy development

  • Desktop stakeholder mapping and community profiling

  • Risk identification and issues management on contentious projects

  • Direct community and stakeholder liaison and management

  • Workshop facilitation

  • Social and community research

  • Social data collation, analysis and recording

  • Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods

  • Leading and supporting tender proposals

  • Project management including budget development

  • Event logistic coordination

  • Qualitative and quantitative feedback analysis

  • Questionnaire design

  • Print and digital communication material production

  • Social media strategy design and monitoring

  • Website design / content management

Your attributes

  • You have 6 or more years’ demonstrated experience working within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • You have plenty of positive energy and a passion for delivering high quality engagement and communication services across a broad range of clients (private, local, state and federal government).

  • You’re an excellent listener and communicator (written and verbal) who’s flexible in your approach to get the best outcome for each project.

  • You’re actively on the look-out for the latest engagement and communication principles in Australia and overseas.

  • You’re passionate about integrating social practice to create a better world.

  • Your report writing and presentation skills are fresh, professional and tailored to each audience.

  • You’re open to occasionally working out of hours work (weekends and weeknights) to handle project hotlines and email enquiries.

  • You’re up for travelling interstate for projects if the opportunity arises.

  • You’re curious and quick to pick up new projects whether it’s related to transport, site contamination, climate change, land use planning, urban development, public health or social planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You are a member of the International Association of Public Participation; and / or

  • You are a member of the Engage to Act collective; and

  • You have a degree in a related area; and

  • You have experience in the urban planning, public health, social infrastructure design, engineering and construction industries.
