Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a Senior Economist with demonstrated experience and strong technical capabilities to join our Infrastructure Advisory team in Melbourne. Our team offers a range of services across a number of industries and sectors, including business case development, financial and economic analysis, feasibility and pre-feasibility advice and infrastructure prioritisation. We are advisors to government and private sectors clients in transport, water, buildings and precincts and the environment. The Economics team in Melbourne is growing and we are looking for an experienced and motivated economist to join us. In this role, you will be applying strong technical capability when assessing economic problems, benefits and costs to solve our clients’ problems in a dynamic and changing environment. To be successful in this role, you will have a competency and interest in providing expert technical advice as well as a passion for developing long term client relationships and winning work.

About the role:

  • Work across multi-disciplinary projects and multiple infrastructure sectors, including transport, water, buildings, land-use and economics
  • Work as a senior member of multi-disciplinary teams, providing support to senior business leaders and leadership to junior staff
  • Understand the requirements of State and Federal government funding processes such as business case development and applications
  • Develop and review economic and financial models and prepare reports for a variety of stakeholders
  • Grow and manage a diverse client base, undertake business development
  • Strong written and verbal skills, and ability to clearly and effectively report technical outcomes
  • Capabilities sought include strong technical capability in identifying and assessing economic problems, benefits and costs, as well as an interest in leading projects, client interface and seeking and following up business opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years relevant professional experience
  • Relevant and substantial project experience
  • Technical skills such as in econometric analysis
  • Excellent report writing and communications skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills and capability of working to tight deadlines
  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment
  • The candidate must have industry experience in the Transport, Water or Energy infrastructure sectors
  • Ideally the candidate will also have an understanding of the Victorian Public Sector and infrastructure providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably in economics.
