AECOM Construction Services are currently looking for a Program Controls Manager to work in their Canberra office and operate across some of our major infrastructure and development projects throughout Australia. This is a leadership role, with strategic input and a close relationship with our Directors to push key civil construction projects forward on time and on budget.

About You


To be considered for this role you must be capable of working in a program and project management environment, with evidence of such work across multiple infrastructure and civil construction projects. You will be proven in program management and project controls, with a natural ability to lead project controls teams across a diverse project portfolio.

This is an excellent role to engage and mentor others, while also being capable across some of the following job descriptors;

  • Preparing and delivering routine and ad hoc program reports.
  • Mentor, guide and direct planners and schedulers across key civil construction projects from concept to completion
  • Manage consolidated program scheduling capability and interface with program and project teams, including work stream directors
  • Coordinate and oversee projects using tools such as Power BI, MS Project, Primavera and other common estimating tools or data.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to provide complex analysis and determine impacts on projects schedules and budgets, including financial and cash flow analysis
  • Integrate sound risk management principals into day-to-day management activity
  • Implement and maintain our quality assurance program procedures and Program Procedures Manual
  • Sound knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction cycles (including field experience) and understanding of construction sequencing, means, and methods specifically for large, complex infrastructure programs and projects.
  • Working effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders groups, including; Clients, Directors, Schedulers, Planners, Commercial Managers and Financial Specialists
  • Meet deadlines through solid communication and organisation skills with highly developed report-writing ability to present to varied stakeholders
  • Risk management, cost and budget management, scheduling, performance measurement and document management across complex civil construction project activities

The position of Program Controls Manager will report in to our Program and Construction Director, with reach across interstate projects throughout Australia and involvement in some of our most critical projects. You will ideally have a proactive attitude in the workplace and be adaptable in your role with a proven Program Controls background in Australia and strong knowledge of reporting tools such as; Power BI, MS Project, Primavera and Aconex.
