Job Summary

AECOM has a good opportunity for a

Tradesperson – Mechanical to support our project in Alice Springs, Australia. The Tradesperson is required to undertake various tasks (maintenance, repairs, installations, and projects) related to the maintenance and operations of the equipment utilized at JDFPG. Typically these tasks would include but not limited to, mechanical, HVAC, power generation (engines), fuel systems, water systems, and various ancillary equipment. The selected candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on various pieces of equipment as required, primarily combustion engines used for site power generation; fabricate and install equipment in support of projects; provide a professional response to emergency and breakdown situations; provide a level of professionalism and support that will ensure compliance to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Security, JDFPG and OASIS requirements; ensure on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly) all work orders are completed and entered correctly into the computerized system; identify and implement innovative, effective and efficient methods of undertaking work; provide training to others where suitable and appropriate; liaise and work with other OASIS personnel and customers as required in a professional manner; highlight to management any serious issues as a matter of priority; undertake additional training as required to support new systems; understand and know the operating capacities and characteristics of equipment within the Utilities area of responsibility; aid the development and review project briefs and Statement of Work as required; aid in the delivery(planning, materials and resources) of projects and new works as required; review and update drawings; aid in the management of Operations and Maintenance manuals and site documentation; undertake investigations and provide associated recommendations and reports; provide support to Shift Operators as required; undertake shift training if required in order to provide support and backup to the shift teams; assist in all areas of Facilities Maintenance from time to time, as required; attend callouts when available; and perform other duties as directed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a TS/SCI security clearance.

  • Trade Qualification: Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic.

  • Trade Licenses: Relevant for actual Trade.

  • Must be able to obtain a NT Driver’s License.

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in Powerhouse or Facilities Maintenance.

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in maintaining power generation equipment.

  • Ability to undertake technical investigations and reviews.

  • Demonstrated customer focus.

  • Experience in working as part of a dedicated team.

  • Ability to provide input to Management to allow for continuous improvement.

  • Ability to deliver training requirements to others.

  • Demonstrated well developed communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of workplace diversity and equity, and EH&S.

  • The ability to gain an understanding and appreciation across areas such as electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training in appropriate safety procedures (i.e.Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Personal

  • Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, Working in Trenches, etc.).

  • Forklift license.

  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.

  • Basic use of computer systems.

  • Commitment to self-improvement with the focus on qualifications/skills update and contemporary industry practices.

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in maintaining large fixed plant such as chillers and water treatment equipment.

  • Understanding of maintenance practices and principles.
