Life at UWA

A variety of social groups, facilities and events, and a dedicated Staff Social Club, provide UWA employees and their families with the opportunity to meet new people, have fun and socialise outside working hours in a relaxed environment.

The Visitor's Centre is responsible for giving the general public, students and staff a major resource for up-coming events as well as guidance to locations in both Crawley and Nedlands campuses. Current bus/train timetables are available as well as booklets on self-guided walks on campus.

The UWA Cultural Precinct presents a dynamic, creative and intellectually rigorous program of exhibitions, performances and associated cultural activities that amplify current concern, flag future issues and provide a perspective from which to view the past.

Clubs and venues

The UWA Staff Social Club provides UWA employees and their families with the opportunity to meet new people, have fun and socialise outside working hours in a relaxed environment.

The UWA Perth International Arts Festival began in 1953 and is the oldest annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere. UWA staff are entitled to a staff discount.

The University Club of Western Australia opened in 2005 and offers graduates, alumni and corporate organisations the opportunity to continue their strong association with the University, and utilise the Club's facilities for their professional and social needs.

UWA has four indoor and three outdoor venues offering facilities for dance, drama, music, film, exhibitions and formal functions. Contact University Theatres for more information.

Weddings at UWA amongst the beautiful gardens and historic buildings is a memorable location for a such a special event.

Galleries

The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery is responsible for the Art Collection of UWA. The earliest acquisition dates back to the 1920s.

The Cullity Gallery is a unique and exciting venue, showcasing innovative works in architecture, visual arts and landscape architecture.
