About us

TUH Health Fund was founded in 1972 by the Queensland Teachers’ Union. Our purpose was to ensure that teachers in Queensland would always be able to receive first rate health care.

Our fund has grown and we now cover a much broader range of Australians. Many of our members, such as teachers, nurses, fire-fighters and government employees, spend their working lives looking after others. We feel a special obligation to look after them in return, and that’s very evident in the generous health cover we provide and the respect and care with which we treat our members. Especially when they are unwell and at their most vulnerable.

We are, and have always been, a not-for-profit organisation.

Why TUH is all together better

At TUH, we’ve been supporting the health of our members and their families for over 40 years. It’s what we do. And it’s what makes us and our members happy. But we also know we’re all different. That’s why before you choose TUH for your health cover we work out what’s really important to you. After all, we are member-owned so we focus on providing you and your family the best health cover possible. It’s what make us all together better.

We don’t have shareholders. In fact, we are 100% owned by our members. Which means our profits go straight back into offering better products and services for you. We’re just a community of like-minded people working all together better.

Providing outstanding service is important to us and our customer satisfaction and member retention rates are better than the big for-profit health funds. In fact, 96% of our members love our products and services and very few leave us.
