THE ICONIC has grown to be the biggest fashion e-commerce retailer in Australia and New Zealand and continues to be the fastest growing, all in less than 4 years. On the tech side of things this means that we constantly need to solve exciting and interesting scalability problems. We always look for ways to automate everything we do, and this includes customer facing features. We love the challenge and are always on the lookout on what other big tech companies are doing and constantly testing if we can use a different tech to solve a specific problem.

Engineering

Engineering, in an Agile environment, work in cross-functional teams and firmly believe in the power of BDD (using Behat, Mink and Gherkin) and TDD for the front-end with Karma with Jasmine, and using PHPUnit for the back-end. As one great team they aim towards a CI/CD environment with two week sprints, for which they currently use Bamboo to test the git branches that will later be deployed in the AWS stack. As a team of Senior Devs, QA’s and Product Managers, they use AngularJS (specially with Directives) and Foundation (SASS, Compass) in the front-end and Zend 2, Apigility, MySQL and Redis in the back-end,to execute rocket science work. Having already one an ORIA Award for our Mobile App and ‘Best App’ in Rocket Internet Group, we think we’re doing a great job but we’re not stopping there – we’re just getting started.

Information Technology

From Design to Delivery, the IT team is working behind the scenes making sure the machines of THE ICONIC run smoothly. Their tasks range from helping ICONIC staff members with their day to day computer needs – to working alongside Development to provide the Infrastructure required to support a constant flow of innovative projects. From re-actively troubleshooting daily issues that arise, to proactively working on improving existing systems, you will always be looking for ways to do things better for our customers, both internal and external. In this team you will be constantly challenged to think- Is there a better way?
