Diversity at ICC Sydney

Australia’s International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) says women currently represent 63 per cent of employees - 56 per cent at director level and 45 per cent in the company’s executive team.

Geoff Donaghy, chief executive ICC Sydney said he expected a level gender split within the workforce to continue as the team grows to its full capacity of more than 300 full time and more than 1,200 casual employees.

“ICC Sydney will continue to apply its commitment to workforce diversity as we grow an extraordinary team to open one of the world’s most exciting venues in December. A workplace that attracts people with different perspectives will drive innovation, collaboration and overall productivity,” said Donaghy.

The new centre has also partnered with Working Mothers Connect, an industry group that advocates for mothers who are transitioning back into the workforce after an extended break for childbirth or child raising, as it is one of the biggest challenges women can face in their careers.

Other initiatives supported include participation in the Australian Breastfeeding Association’s Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace program.

ICC Sydney’s diversity strategy is built on four key areas: Mature age workers, LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) workers, youth workers and parents and carers returning to the workforce.
