Diversity

Charter Hall

Charter Hall considers diversity in the workplace as respecting and valuing differences based on a wide range of personal characteristics including gender, age and ethnicity, as well as diversity of thought and background.

We believe that people with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives provide unique view points and innovative solutions from which the business can benefit.

We take pride in our contribution to Diversity in the Property Industry. Our Head of People was appointed to the Women in Property Committee in 2013 and continues in her role on the Property Council working group responsible for developing a mentoring program for women across the industry.

We believe that to have a truly inclusive culture, we have to invest in improving workplace flexibility so that our people can work in the way that best suits them.

In 2013 we implemented a new online Performance and Talent Management System which supports us in measuring performance by outcomes. This means that our exmployees can by agreement, choose when and how they would like to work as long as they get the job done.

Some of our initiatives supporting workplace flexibility include:

Purchased leave To enable employees to take up to 6 weeks of annual leave each year. Career break A 6-month break from work after 3 years of service to pursue study, travel, spend time with family, or anything else you choose. Flexible working guidelines Project work, roles, and careers that are designed and structured with flexibility characteristics built in, rather than bolted on. Parental Transitions Program Educational seminars and webinars for parents transitioning onto Parental Leave to assist with managing career and navigating through the options of flexibility upon return. Work|Life Links A consulting service that helps you find health and lifestyle services that fit in with your life.
