Aboriginal employment

Bendigo Health

It is Bendigo Health’s belief that a staffing group that reflects the diverse community it serves will provide better and more responsive services. Aboriginal public servants have already made a significant contribution to the Victorian community.

Commitment
Bendigo Health is committed to increase employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. An Indigenous Employment and Training Team have been specifically dedicated to achieve these outcomes. But we need to do more to make sure that Aboriginal people are better represented throughout our workforce. Central to Karreeta Yirramboi is Bendigo Health’s objective to develop into a modern and inclusive workplace which values and respects Aboriginal people. Equally, Karreeta Yirramboi is strongly focused on establishing the right pathways for Aboriginal employees to enter and progress their careers in the public sector. This includes ensuring all Indigenous young people can participate in education and training in order to build the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career at Bendigo Health.

Support and development
Career development is important to everyone. At Bendigo Health, we dedicated Career Development staff within our Indigenous Employment and Training Team who help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and trainees manage their career progression and identify opportunities to develop skills through training and study.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Network
To ensure we provide a welcoming environment for employees, patients and visitors we have established the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Network which supports employees and trainees, whilst improving cultural awareness throughout Bendigo Health.
