How we contribute to the community

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)

The ABC serves as a town square for Australians, providing reliable information to encourage a meaningful, national conversation, and creating a forum in which everyone-not just those in public life-can be heard. Playing an important role in the lives of all Australians is a fundamental part of the ABC's mission.

In an emergency tune to 774 AM ABC signMany people are proud to work at the ABC due to the unique nature of our contribution to the community. This has included:

  • Our coverage of national emergencies which provides critical information for local and international communities.
  • ABC Giving Tree Appeal - raising money and donating to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people
  • Many people use a range of ABC services to provide reliable, quality, independent election coverage
  • And on a lighter note, we also provide opportunities for people to showcase their talent. Our Unearthed competition run by triple j, is for those people who demonstrate their potential to make a contribution to the ABC music industry.

Workplace Giving Program

The ABC has a Workplace Giving program, where staff can connect with their local communities through giving monetary donations and offering support of various kinds to registered charities. This can be easily done by staff giving to selected charities from their pre-tax salary each fortnight.
