  • How do I apply for a position with Aurizon?

    Applications must be applied through our website. If you do not have access to an internet connection, we recommend public services such as your nearest library. Visit the Search Jobs page to search for current advertised roles.

  • Am I eligible to apply for a position with Aurizon?

    Australian citizens or applicants with permanent residency are eligible to apply for a position with Aurizon unless otherwise stated.

  • What documentation will I need for my application?

    You will require a current CV / resume and/or cover letter. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, you may be asked to supply additional supporting documentation.

  • Can I resume my application at a later stage?

    You can continue to edit your application at any time prior to the position closing date through your profile. If you wish to update a submitted application, please contact the employment centre help desk on 13 23 32. Applications not completed before the closing date will not be accepted. If you have forgotten your password visit the existing applicant login page and select the Don't know your password? link to retrieve it.

  • How do I update my personal details?

    You can login at any stage to update your personal details including contact information and your CV / resume.

  • How can I check the status of my application?

    You can login to your personal profile and click "view application" to check the status of your application. Alternatively please contact us or call the call the employment centre on 13 23 32.

  • Is there a specific cut-off for the Psychometric Assessments that I complete?

    Psychometric assessments are used as one component of our merit-based recruitment process. In accordance with Aurizon’s Zero Harm policy, there is a minimum level of achievement required from those candidates completing testing for roles that are identified as “safety critical”.

  • Why does Aurizon include Psychometric Assessments in the recruitment process?

    Research has shown that these assessments provide a fair and objective measure of future on-the-job performance and this cannot be accurately obtained from other aspects of the recruitment process.

  • Can I have feedback on my results?

    Yes. All applicants who complete Psychometric Assessments for selection purposes are entitled to receive verbal feedback on their results. However, candidates will need to await confirmation of the outcome of their application prior to seeking feedback.

  • How often are new positions advertised?

    Positions are advertised based on the growing demands of our business. To ensure you don’t miss out on future career opportunities, register for our Job Alerts.

  • Can I apply for more than one advertised position?

    Yes, provided the position matches your interest and qualifications you are eligible to apply. A separate online application is required for each advertised position.

  • What format should I supply my documentation?

    Attachments cannot exceed 2Mb in size. Tips to reduce your attachments include:

    Use JPEG format for images and set your file export for web or email quality.
    In newer versions of MS Word you can click ‘Compress Pictures’ on the Picture toolbar.
    Mac users: Make sure you save your document with an extension. When saving in Microsoft Word, ensure the "Append file extension" checkbox is ticked.

  • How will I know if my application has been submitted successfully?

    You will receive a confirmation email (to your registered email address) from Aurizon advising that your application has been received. If you do not receive this email, please check your spam filters or contact us.

  • I don't have an email address, can I still apply for a position via the website?

    A valid email address is required before applying for any advertised positions. Free email services are available with Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo.

  • Am I required to complete any Psychometric Assessment to obtain a position with Aurizon?

    You may be. We use a variety of assessments, which are selected based on the skills required for the role you are applying for. In line with out Zero Harm policy, testing is mandatory for any safety critical position.

  • How long does it take to complete the Psychometric Assessments?

    Depending on what role you are applying for, testing can take up to three hours to complete and may be available online.

  • What do these Psychometric Assessments measure?

    Aurizon selects assessments which measure abilities and preferences that are important to the role you are applying for. Some of these may include; problem solving ability, verbal and numerical reasoning ability and personality preferences.

  • Who sees the results of my Psychometric Assessments?

    Psychometric Assessment results are strictly confidential. Access to candidates results is restricted to those who are directly involved in the recruitment process.
