We offer a range of learning and development opportunities - this includes both in-house and external learning experiences, as well as a comprehensive induction programme and orientation tour when you start.

Learning depot

  • We provide a full day, comprehensive induction programme for all permanent employees

  • AT offers a Leadership Development Pathway as part of an organisation-wide strategy to build the leadership capability across the organisation. It is designed specifically for Auckland Transport and is aimed at developing leaders at all levels.
  • AT may provide assistance with tertiary study if the study is relevant to the current or a future role within AT and provide up to 10 days study leave per year.

Leave entitlements:

Leave

  • 10 days sick/domestic leave per year (legislated minimum = five days) available straight away for permanent employees
  • 20 days of annual leave per annum, increasing to 25 days after five years of service
  • Accrued leave can be used as it is earned
  • 18 weeks parental leave payments from IRD topped up to full salary
  • Two weeks paid paternity/support parent leave (unpaid under the legislation)
  • AT take an active interest in your education, we allow up to Study leave

Hours of work

  • Office hours are between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday. Your start and finish times can be agreed with your manager in relation to meeting business needs
  • AT may agree to temporary changes to hours of work and/or start and finish times under certain circumstances, eg: to facilitate child care requirements
  • Parents returning from extended parental leave may be able to agree a graduated return to full time hours of work where the job allows
  • AT is currently trialling flexible work arrangements in some business units as we continue to explore how we can make AT a great place to work. You will be asked about your "work preferences" when you apply for one of our roles online. This is so that we can better understand your work preferences and help create a more flexible work environment.

Tools of Trade:

Vehicles

  • Pool cars are available for any employee requiring transport between offices or to project sites for business purposes.

Laptops and mobile phones

  • Staff that are required to work across multiple locations are provided with up to date laptops and mobile phones for business purposes.

  • Annual health checks are provided for all staff

Employee Assistance Programme - (EAP)

  • EAP is a confidential self-referring counseling service to encourage employees to address personal problems that are affecting their work performance. This is managed by an external company in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager.
  • Auckland Transport will cover the costs of the first three visits.

Employee Rewards:

Employee referral programme

  • Permanent employees are eligible to earn a $500 bonus for referring a friend/family member or former colleague who is in turn employed by AT, and remains in the business for a minimum of 6 months.

Values champions and recognition programme

  • All permanent employees can be recognised for outstanding behaviour in line with our values champion rewards of either 2 movie vouchers or an above and beyond day off work.
