Recognising Excellence Awards
The Recognising Excellence Awards are an opportunity for all our people to promote and highlight the outstanding achievements of their colleagues across Alfred Health.
These annual awards, held during Alfred Week each October, enable Alfred Health to recognise the superior performance of its people through staff nominations and executive level judging processes and allows us to reflect on what excellence means to us at Alfred Health.
Service recognition
Alfred Health values longevity of service and each year, during Alfred Week in October, ceremonies are held at each of our hospitals to acknowledge and reward those with 5, 10, 15 - even up to over 40 years of valued service.
Alfred Health staff can access a great range of workplace benefits and discounts.
Staff Immunisation and Exposure Management Unit
Staff Immunisation clinics are located at The Alfred, Sandringham Hospital and Caulfield Hospital and offer the following to Alfred Health staff:
- healthcare worker immunisation
- infectious diseases exposure management
- blood and body fluid/needlestick exposure management – all staff to contact pager 3000 if a blood/body fluid exposure has occurred (24-hour service)
- referral service for allergenic responses to latex or hand hygiene agents
- Travel Clinic referrals
Staff who require urgent medical attention should attend the Emergency Department.
For all other medical issues, staff should see their GP or attend Medi7.
GP clinic
The Alfred has an arrangement with a local GP medical clinic, Medi7 on Commercial Rd, that provides expert services, with bulk billing arrangements.
Health insurance
As part of our commitment to providing a healthy workplace and making life easier for our people, Alfred Health works closely with HCF Health Insurance, which provides a flexible range of insurance coverage, such as Mix & match hospital and extras.
Local businesses
A range of local businesses both onsite and in the surrounding area offer discounts to Alfred Health staff. Presentation of your Alfred Health identification will guarantee your discount. To find out more, contact HR Reception.
Pharmacy
Alfred Health staff receive a 10% discount from HealthSmart Pharmacy simply by showing their ID. HealthSmart Pharmacy is on the ground floor of The Alfred near the main entrance.
Salary packaging
Alfred Health offers salary packaging to all full-time, part-time and casual staff.
Alfred Health works in partnership with a noted and national provider of salary packaging options, Maxxia.
Maxxia’s salary packaging enables staff to direct pre-tax income towards benefits such as superannuation or mortgage repayments, provides car leasing and entertainment packaging, or simply to reduce their PAYG (Pay As You Go) tax and increase their disposable income.
