Job Description

This role is focused on the delivery of improvements, upgrades and ongoing maintenance and support of our Business Application Platforms driving Viva Energy’s business operations. Based at the Geelong Refinery, on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, , the Application Support Specialist is a business critical role powering the Tech Apps strategy underpinned by industrial COTS (commercial off the shelf) applications, the Osisoft PI platform and the Microsoft Power Apps platform. Within the platforms, the role will be responsible to provide development/configuration, technical and administration support for applications across the landscape as well as supporting the digital transformation and process analytics agenda. The role allows for flexible work arrangements including virtual working for part of the week (from home / an alternate Viva Energy office e.g. Docklands) in line with the Viva Energy ways of working.

Qualifications

You will have developed technical skills in line with platform requirements. You will be keen to upskill and cross skill to new technologies however you will have the following skills and experience;

  • Great communications and coordination skills with customer centricity.
  • Demonstrated ability to upskill and cross skill to new technologies with a continuous learning mindset.
  • Experience of 5 years or more in a similar business applications support role for critical operating platforms.
  • Technical skills in Windows and Azure server hosting, active directory access management, application packaging, group policy, Azure virtual desktop and similar virtualized environments.
  • Database technologies across SQL server and Oracle including SQL development.
  • Excellent understanding of ITIL principles and practical experience across incident, problem and change management.
  • Practical understanding of business methodologies and software development life cycle, API led integration, database concepts and development methodologies and client-server architectures.
  • Ability to triage issues with different teams supporting different components of the solution landscape.
  • Ability to document and maintain technical knowledge bases and share knowledge across peers
  • Solid understanding and experience with business systems information security principles including role-based security, data protection, identity and access management, patching, Antivirus baseline and whitelisting etc.
  • Well-developed project management and coordination skills to lead mid-level initiatives directly with the business.
  • Delivery experience in an agile and waterfall environment as a core member of a cross functional team.
  • Systems architecture and configuration knowledge
  • Embedding and supporting/troubleshooting commercial off the shelf vendor platforms in coordination with platform vendors per defined SLAs.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Asset Intensive IT environment will be highly regarded.
  • Strong preference for experience in the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI).
