Tax Analyst

Reporting to the Tax Manager & Head of Tax, the primary responsibilities of the role are to assist with Vocus Group’s tax provision & compliance obligations, data capture systems, tax projects, deferred tax balances and ensuring calculations are free of material error. Ensure that tax “risk” positions are managed and escalated within the organisation’s tax risk reporting framework. You will also liaise with stakeholders across the Vocus Group and assist in tax projects for the desired outcomes on tax reporting and tax system improvements.

The day to day

  • Assist with the income tax and tax effect accounting (TEA) computations for the Group is delivered within the agreed time-frames.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance obligations are met within legislated timeframes 
  • Assist with Revenue Authority queries, reviews and audits are escalated in accordance with the Group’s Tax Risk Framework.
  • Assist in the Group’s tax software systems including process changes to allow and influence outcomes for the desired tax reporting and tax system purposes.
  • Under direction, assist in providing the Group with accurate and timely taxation advice.
  • Assist in facilitating tax training

What you will bring to the table

  • The ability to build strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • 4+ years’ experience working in a Business Services, Corporate Tax or Corporate Environment
  • Proven experience working in taxation across the whole Australian tax system including but not limited to income tax, GST and FBT
  • Experience in tax effect accounting (AASB 112) and Tax Notes for statutory reporting is preferred
  • You will be CA or CPA qualified (or you're working towards these qualifications)
  • Experience in big 4 firms or mid-tier Accounting firms is preferred
